Naturally Occurring Retirement Community Supportive Service Program (NORC-SSP)
In recent years a phenomenon called "aging in place" has occurred. This has primarily occurred in multi-unit apartment buildings that have no age restrictions, but which have evolved over time to include a significant number (typically, over 50 percent) of residents who are aged 60 and over.
As the number of elders has grown, many NORCs have added activities, supportive assistance and other services to meet their residents' needs. Monthly charges or rents typically do not include these activities/services. Charges/rents may be priced at market rates or subsidized with government assistance.
