Family Caregiver Support Program

Through NY Connects, persons who are caring for an elder (a spouse, a relative or a friend) are provided information about, as well as support in obtaining, necessary services.

Services for caregivers include: individual counseling; organization of support groups and training for caregivers to assist them in making decisions and solving problems related to their caregiver roles; respite care to enable caregivers to be temporarily relieved of their responsibilities; and other supplemental services. The goal is to enable persons caring for an elder to continue their important work by providing them support based on their unique circumstances.

Caregiver resource centers are also available in 17 counties across New York State.  These complement services are provided through the National Family Caregiver Support Program.
